Back to school presidents

Education Technology has changed since I was a kid, but I know the emotions about going back to school are probably very much the same .You can do this! Going back to school is a reason for celebration because it means a new step towards a wonderful future! Today it will be time to open textbooks again and activate the brain! Good luck all throughout the new school year. Some of you might a little sad when Summer is gone, but remember that education is an amazing opportunity. It set the stage for a happy life .I know you will do your best and that is what matters!  A new semester means fresh new textbooks, new teachers, new learning goals and sometimes even new friends.  You will be such an inspiring hard and smart worker in your studies.  I have faith in you! Not too long ago  students had to write using stone tablets using squid ink. When I went to The University of Texas at Austin We had to punch card using FORTRAN or Cobalt computer Language to get answers to our questions ,and the size of our computer center was as large as the size of a football field . Today you can buy a scientific calculator for $5 . same calculator was over $1000 when I was at school . I am confident confident you will succeed with your laptop and smartphone. Real learning means paying attention and staying curious. In this new school year, I wish you inspiration and happiness! When you return to school, remember that you will always have questions about something in the world. It means your brain is still working. This year you will start a brand new grade in school. I know it can feel scary, but I know that you have what it takes to make this year as beautiful and awesome . It has been a fantastic summer. Now that school days have started, I wish you a fantastic new school year! New school supplies are one of the best things about a new school year. Making new friends is even better! Good luck and have fun! Happy new semester .I know that whatever you seek to accomplish, you will. The summer went by so fast! I know it is hard to say goodbye to summer fun, but I know you will have a great school year! I know it can seem the school year lasts a long time, but before you know it, winter break will be here! Good luck! I realize how quickly you are growing up. As you return to school, remember that knowledge is like a lamp, and every new thing you learn makes the light brighter. I wish “Happy new semester to every one of you. Remember If you “CARE” for a goal you will succeeded My slogan for “CARE”

C commitment

A attitude (+)

R responsibility

Enthusiasm

If you have those four for any goal , you will reach to that goal and success.

Best Wishes,

Sid

Keep Harry Jerome Open

Dear North Vancouver Residents
In 2018, the City of North Vancouver announced plans that they will build a new Harry Jerome Rec center, and that they would keep the current Harry Jerome Centre open so that residents would not be impacted by any closure.  But early this year, Mayor Buchanan and city council quietly announced that they will be closing down the current Harry Jerome Rec Centre at the end of this year while a new center is being built across the street.  The new center will not be ready until at least 2025/2026.   So for the next 3+ years:

Seniors who  use the current  Harry Jerome center to stay healthy with swimming and using the gym might have nowhere to go because
this is a big concern for them. The same seniors have shared that their health declined dramatically when the center was closed for only 6 m. Furthermore many seniors don’t drive or don’t have vehicles, some even don’t have.
bus passes to go to alternative facilities which are too far for them to walk.
Kids who play hockey, take skating lessons will have to go farther away, and possibly pay more to do that.
–        Children and youth will have a harder time registering for swimming lessons
–        Swimming clubs where youth learn to swim better and to compete will have less opportunities
–        Lacrosse, a traditional indigenous sport, will not be played on the North Shore anymore because Harry Jerome is the only place on the North Shore where this sport can be played
–        Some staff will lose their jobs and their income
The users of Harry Jerome Rec Centre are concerned about the negative impact of the center’s closure on the community and have started a petition to keep the center open.  Please go to https://change.org/keepharryjeromeopen to tell the city to keep this center open for all of us.

Happy Canada Day!

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says this year’s Canada Day should be a moment of “reflection,” to consider Canada’s historic wrongs and the steps being taken towards Indigenous reconciliation.
“The moment we have tomorrow on Canada Day is to have real conversations with our loved ones, with our neighbors, with our friends about what each of us can do to stand as allies to Indigenous people, to shift our own mindsets, behaviors, and supports is what this is all about,” he said speaking to reporters in Ottawa on Wednesday.
In a tweet published on Wednesday, Trudeau said he has asked that the flag on the Peace Tower remain at half-mast for Canada Day to “honor the Indigenous children whose lives were taken far too soon.”
The prime minister will take part in the virtual July 1 event, being held online for a second year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A spokesperson for the Heritage department told the evening program will begin by showcasing Indigenous culture and a “solemn moment of reflection.”
